About the project
  • The first known name of Caloocan was “Aromahan” or “Libis” and was formerly part of Tondo.  Founded by the Augustinian priests in 1765, Caloocan derived its name from the Tagalog word “lo-ok” or “nasa sulok,” and is one of the cities that comprise the National Capital Region.

Considered the second largest city in Metro Manila, Southern Caloocan is bounded by Malabon City and Valenzuela City in the north, Navotas in the west, and Quezon City in the east. Northern Caloocan, on the other hand, lies on the east of Valenzuela City, north of Quezon City, and south of San Jose del Monte City and Marilao in Bulacan.

Caloocan has a busy and active economy fuelled by a vigorous transportation system that includes The Light Rail Transit (LRT-1) that traverses Rizal Avenue Extension of Caloocan City, into the City of Manila and Pasay City.  It is also the gateway to northern Luzon as the North Luzon Expressway operations and maintenance center, the Balintawak Toll barrier, as well as the Manila North Tollways Corporation’s headquarters are all housed in Caloocan.

With a population of 1,378,856 as of the 2007 census, Caloocan is considered the 4th most populous city in the country. It is composed of 188 barangays.  In Barangay 171, Zone 15, is the lively area of Bagumbong where two of Carissa Homes’ prized development in Caloocan -- Tierra Nova and Carissa Homes Camarin -- are both located.
